The Heart Wants

The heart wants what it wants,
But it's not always what's best for us.
The heart likes to pull strings,
And makes you act like a puppet.
Either happy and in love,
Or crying over what you can't have.
The heart wants what it wants,
And it never gets any easier.
Lost and confused thinking with both my heart and mind,
Which are not agreeing what they want.
I ask which I should listen to,
But truthfully I just don't know.
My heart is in love with the impossible,
Wanting it more and more each day.
Trying to figure things out,
Coping through the way I feel.
Spilling my guts out,
Even though it might make things worse.
My heart wants what it wants,
But it's causing me so much pain.
I wish my heart could have what it wants,
But I doubt it will ever happen.
I sit here hoping, dreaming, and praying,
That my heart will be able to get what it wants!
