there's a bit of a scene at the café ..
the man in the café
refuses to pay
saying the food is appalling
the waiter points out
that nevertheless he has in fact
eaten it
the man says
well more fool you ..

[ Joining in ] If the waiter ate the food how would the man know the food was appalling? Maybe the man and the waiter are one and the same split personality?
I like poems that force you to think :-)

Ahhh...suffer the Americans
at the hands of the Brits,,,,
and their 'cheeky', but wonderful wry wit...that i am very fond of--as i am your poetry! :)
And nonetheless...that scene must have been quite entertaining--to be sure!

Re. there's a bit of a scene at the comments of the poem
Always a delight to read your Spartan spear poems: short, witty and with a heck of a lot behind them.
For those still arguing, the food could still be appalling although not eaten by the customer; by the sight or smell, not just the taste. Though the lack of food to eat would in itself be warrant enough to be called appalling: a slow service is one thing but no service is just as bad if not worse.
Came for the poem, stayed for comments.

I like the spartan image .. but dan is right, one should never explain, particularly when it's all greek to the author ..

Ah, but this is the internet where without explanation things can stay Double Dutch meaning misunderstanding and ignorance become liberated and present truth at funny angles. A good joke like a good trick should never be explained, but a good person explains what others don't know.
