The Hanging Tree
Neath the hanging tree
I ever so carelessly
existing freely, all smiles,
fooled by my own guile.
Darkness drank whole the light;
every bulb and candle bright!
Gloom loomed a foul sickness
empowered by my own weakness.
I tried ever so desperately
('neath the hanging tree)
to allure a cure from inside
they all passed by way of pride.
Those creatures through skin pierce,
vile, violent, dark and ever so fierce!
I had found a slight hope to be free,
though I writhe 'neath the hanging tree.
I ever so carelessly
existing freely, all smiles,
fooled by my own guile.
Darkness drank whole the light;
every bulb and candle bright!
Gloom loomed a foul sickness
empowered by my own weakness.
I tried ever so desperately
('neath the hanging tree)
to allure a cure from inside
they all passed by way of pride.
Those creatures through skin pierce,
vile, violent, dark and ever so fierce!
I had found a slight hope to be free,
though I writhe 'neath the hanging tree.
