the city
Universal madness growing, threatening to erupt,
a vague unrest a nameless longing.
Terminal sewers run rampant in the city.
Parasites feed on the unborn child.
Naked images in neon mushroom clouds, raining acid rain.
Television death, so casually reduced to nothing.
Sick junkies scream shrilly, feel the painful prick
of sharp instruments of death, the cold metal inside.
Humanities condition denied. Alternating fear and joy,
the sick see-saw cutting deep. Vagrants mutter to god,
smell the stale flesh. Cracked pavement underfoot, insanity
in smoke filled basement rooms. Electric spasm, smell the
sex, the city is ravished, it knows no shame.
