Better off as Ashes
She could've been beautiful,
a cascade of fireworks to light up her dark world.
But deep down, she knew what happened
to the crystal eyed kids looking to the sky.
In the end Fireworks were too big,
burned too brightly
and left you with aching eardrums.
So she snuffed out her light,
so no one wound up blinded,
so that no one got burnt,
So that the only one who got hurt
was her.
