Masks to hide a hostaged soul
Everyday new masks worn
To hide a soul taken hostage by shadows
But the eyes will never change
Same eyes that turn lustrous sunsets grey
Masks fit tighter and tighter by day
Slowly suffocating the breath of his life away
A stranger's cold eyes stare back in the mirror
The only thing seen of a face shrouded by darkened flames
Big smile booming laughter, the prancing jester has them all fooled
Silently begging someone to see
The cracks in the mask
That let soundless teardrops fall through unnoticed
Staring at the moon caressed by clouds
Watching the soft glow of man made stars streaming through the sky
Musing, perhaps deaths soothing grip will ease the pain
A permanent smile etched into his face, he scares himself
Humanity peeling off, a twisted creature revealing itself
Behind the mask, thrashing, writhing is a tortured heart
Tormented by the grating melody of rage and sorrow
