Wolf
I’m critically endangered
But you don’t give a damn
We used to work together
Now mortal enemies, wolf and Man.
By stopping us from hunting
We feel hunger’s bite.
You force us to shun the day,
Take refuge in the night.
Surrounding us with myths
That name us as cruel
And yet it’s us that suffer
Under your harsh rule.
Howling to the stars
Howling out my heart
Wishing for acceptance
And maybe a fresh start.
But you don’t give a damn
We used to work together
Now mortal enemies, wolf and Man.
By stopping us from hunting
We feel hunger’s bite.
You force us to shun the day,
Take refuge in the night.
Surrounding us with myths
That name us as cruel
And yet it’s us that suffer
Under your harsh rule.
Howling to the stars
Howling out my heart
Wishing for acceptance
And maybe a fresh start.
