The Way It Goes
You follow her down to the riverside
And lays you down in the grass so high
A kiss is as good as a glass of wine
She smiles in the sunlight in her dancing eyes
And she holds onto you tightly in that afternoon sun
And she tells you that you are the only one
And you find yourself believing every word she says
Just a fool in the sun that’s in love
And she’ll make love to you there in the afternoon
Don’t be fooled she’s the one in charge
And what she wants you’ll happily give
Because you’ll be thinking that she loves you too
For a couple of months the dance goes on
You’re falling deeper in love and she’s using you
And when it all crashes down your left wondering how
You couldn’t see that she was the using kind
It happens every day to somebody new
A man or a woman who needs new love
And they fall to fast and far too hard
And when it’s over they keep on falling
And it hurts so bad but it was oh so good
Was it worth the pain you deal with now
And you just wonder for weeks on end
You wonder why and you wonder how
She finds a new lover to take on the ride of their life
And she’s not going to be his wife
And he’ll fall just as hard as you did then
It’s just the way it goes it’s the way of life
