Today
Today I am fat. Today I am not that beautiful. Today I am nothing more than an extra existence in this world. Today I am simply me; and that scares the hell out of me.
A million faces to cover up one. A million reasons to hide the real, the truth. Tuck it away, forever lost, unable to find its way back to the surface. Smile, laugh, wave hello. But don't, ever, just be myself.
Pull on the jeans, slip on the shirt, step in the shoes and walk in the lies. Simply me is not enough. Not pretty, skinny, like-able enough. Build a wall, taller than the sky to hide from the truth. No one will ever dare to climb. It's the only way.
To be afraid of me is the worst kind of fear. For I am the only one who can protect myself and I don't know how. Today isn't the day. Maybe tomorrow will be different.
