Pictures in the Roses
She likes the thought she can be made to flower
And helped to softer smiles upon her face;
She likes the thought of kisses in a bower:
So apposite - as are the lips he'd trace
Were he to share the pleasures of her view
Of any scented garden of his choice;
Each petal adds to joy and can imbue
The day with sweet delight, as she gives voice
To her enchantment in each pretty bud
That captivates the eyes and every thought:
It means she is bewitched and that the flood
Of feelings becomes theirs - it is not taught;
He can relish all, as she supposes,
Loving thoughts, she pictures in the roses.

So apposite - as are the lips he'd trace
Were he to share the pleasures of her view
Of any scented garden of his choice;
