If Only...
If only I could visit the place where you lay,
but the miles are many, so far away.
I know you're not beneath that marble stone upon which your name is carved.
You're beyond the moon, and above the stars.
If only I could, just for a moment, or maybe a day,
sit and talk with you, there is so much I want to say.
Although you're at peace, your troubles gone,
without you here, everything's all wrong.
I want to be free of the earthly ties, my spirit's tired, and my heart cries.
You're the lucky one, you see, because God took you and you're now free.
In His mighty company you get to be,
while I'm still here, waiting impatiently.
So for now I'll continue to wait until God says it's time for me,
and when that happy day comes, I'll be with you throughout eternity.
