A show off leads to a telling off
A swear word leads to eyes blurred
A knuckle wrap turns into a Slap
A firm grip leads to a sore nip
A Smack turns into a whip crack
A hit with a stick leads to a kick
Unable to fight turns into a bite
Mistreating turns into a beating
No escape turns into rape
Strangulation turns into fornication
A cigarette scorcher leads to torture
Silence turns into compliance
The stations of childhood
Being told you were no good
Being forced
Clearly endorsed
Session after session
What was my lesson?
No matter what’s fair
There was nobody there
No chance to swap it
No way to stop it

this made me sad and eyes damp 2nd time in 2 days David Mcleod. i wana take a cane and make the bottoms red of those who say toughen up kid, if only they knew that all kids are not same, that all kids are sacred.

David, interesting reflection on how circumstances are dealt with between the ages...sadly...as those grow, the bottom line, in my opinion is it's what had been taught...children learn what they see and hear everyday...as long as that bullying mentality remains, that behavior will be passed down...the strength comes from those children who see it for what it is and break it when they have their own...thought provoking write!

It is one of the only things that I am proud of. I deliberately became the opposite of my father - the cycle easily broken thank you for the read and sensible comments :-)
