Pretend
Stiffen up those lips
They weren't made to kiss
They were made to smile it all away
Ever since Ten Years...
She swore no one would ever have that power over her ever again
Now it's her turn to cause the pain
Where she walks the tears will come
In her wake a flood of hurt
She takes no pride in this evil
Tired of pretending
But no one wants to lift the veil
Of her pride
Where she hides
All her weaknesses
Out of sight
She makes light
Of the jabs she's grown used to
Being brushed off
Overlooked
She doesn't want one more to become hooked
All she wants is one who can see
past her pretending and still find beauty
in the ashes of her charred and broken heart.
