uncivil war

i'm not a wolf or a shark
I don't run with a pack
shred people to bits

this site is for poetry
a safe haven
for many a broken soul

there is civil unrest
among the ranks
on both sides
poets I care deeply for

the waters are bloodied
maybe it was always so
& I was too blind to see

is it naive to think
we shall all come out of this alive?

I've never been interested
in the politics of the site
my blinders have been removed

it's getting ugly
I've been shedding my darkness
with hopes my vulnerability would shine
there was never a time
I was more in need of my dark

this isn't poetry
it's uncivil war
