Sailor Zippo
i was strolling by the seaside when i found you
Covered in seaweed with barnacles all around you
You had obviously been in there a very long time
Glad to meet you little friend now you will be mine
Perhaps long ago a sailor dropped you accidentally
Or were in his pocket as he was claimed by the sea
Broke the barnacles off and you recovered your shine
Brushed your wheel filled you up you worked just fine
You brought me only luck in our two years together
And always produced a flame in any kind of weather
i became a sailor too and of course you came with me
One day i fumbled and dropped you right back in the sea

Thank you kindly Poetikmind :-) BTW it's a true account. It fell into the sea off the coast of Portugal i like to think it has a new owner, a sailor and he will return it to the sea soon after it has brought him luck

Next time I'm flying power-kites on the beach at Aveiro I'll keep an eye out for it. If in luck, will return to sender.

That's okay Josh, finders keepers, but thanks for the thought It was just a plain old Zippo with no markings, except the faint round outlines of two or three barnacles, at the off chance you stumble upon it while power kiting :-)
