Ash

CYCLE II: FIRE

The universal birth infernal bought,
When rock itself, in molten time, was new.
And atmosphere in flaming ice was brought,
As rain in heat that shattered drops in two.
So, all became from fire power’s reign,
As Might beget from smelt and with forged blade,
In burning oil, in ball and shell retained,
And now in threat of gas seared lungs’ persuade.
But truest flame burns small in every mind,
Electrons passing back and forth between,
For thoughts both church and Auschwitz gates they find,
Thus, every grace and horror ever seen.
For wars become from thoughtly armies’ clash,
And Fire won’t rest ‘til all is raised to ash.
