Dust and Bones

My heart is a hole in the ground
People stop and look down
I wonder what they hope to see
Before they kick some dirt over me
So many friends are dust and bones
They're here with me
I'm not alone
Why you looking down on me
I'm a sick man, not yet deceased
I'm compromised, you're diseased
Standing six feet above me
My heart is full of dust and bones
They're jumbled up
look at me!
How can this be?
We drank the same cup
We ate the same thing
We smoked gasoline and took that drive
Dear God, they are all dust and bones
Look at me, Do I look alive?
Is this hole my home?
I lay here drenched in sweat or tears
What's the difference, a few years?
I want to scream 'til you hear me
ironic, my throat has been eaten
I'm naked, I'm dust and bones
My friends are here with me
I'm not alone
I'm dust and bones
Nothing but dust and bones
