Resurface

My mother,
in her most vulnerable state
The addiction runs deep in her veins
The burn of the booze as it goes down
She hurts
She pays the price for her daughter's trauma
She can't seem to catch a break
She raised this family;
Yet she can't seem to understand,
Why I can't talk about it
But I must not; could not
She would die
Not litterally
But her heart would break
Her soul would shatter
She can't know the pain that I suffered
I sheild her from the terrors
The terrors that still haunt my nights
To see my mother cry,
I rather shatter every bone in my body
To see the booze bring her feelings to the surface
To see her in pain;
Not knowing what happened that night
Not knowing, who hurt her most precious creation
And knowing there will never be justice
I sheild my mother
But the booze brings her feelings to the surface
And she crys, in agony; in pain
Because the thoughts of what happened to her precious baby resurface
And the thoughts they linger under the surface
Till the slight burn of the booze; quickly they resurface
