Stuff that I want

 

Mick says “You can’t always get what you want”,
And of course I know that it’s true.
But sometimes I do find I get what I need –
What I need is to laugh with you.

I don’t have a track and a really fast car
To drive like a maniac
I don’t have a pool (complete with pool boy),
And I don’t have a hot tub out back.

I don’t have a transporter, tardis or jet
To visit my friends far away.
I can’t do magic or cool ninja tricks
And I don’t always know what to say.

The Stones say “You can’t always get what you want”,
It’s hard to accept that it’s true.
But I treasure the moments I get what I need –
What I need is to talk with you.

I don’t have a cottage that’s perched on a cliff
With music of waves on the rocks.
I don’t have the body for fabulous clothes
And I don’t even have stripey socks.

I don’t have the power to make people kind
And I can’t eat nachos each day.
There aren’t enough hours to live all my dreams
And I can’t make summertime stay.

You tell me “You can’t always get what you want”,
And it hurts; but I know that it’s true.
But I’ll always keep trying to get what I need –
What I need is to share with you.
