More Lore: Getting to the Heart of the Matter
Timmy hadn't realized the gravity of
his actions when he went searching
in the dead of night to locate Straw
and his Fantastic crew. Now though,
sitting in the limousine getting grilled
by the President and his men, the seriousness of it all suddenly rang true.
" Okay kid, Once again...from the top"
It was Larry, the President's
'mouthpiece' and top Security Advisor.
"So you rode your bike across the
Brooklyn Bridge at 9:00?" "Yesss, yes si..si..sir" a very nervous Timmy
muttered. "So it was about 10:00
when you drove your bike across
tha..."Oh knock it off Larry!" The
President interrupted. You're scaring
the poor kid!" "jeez golly whacker!
Seriously man you truly watch waaaaaaaaaaaay too much t.v.!" Said
the agitated Pres. at Larry's feeble, and heavy handed ttempts to interrogate
little Timmy.
Straw, and Red had finished their
uneasy reunion, and now wanted to
get down to the business of finding out who exactly was responsible for helping Green run his smear campaign. While Markie seemed more interested in
really understanding what made Foolie
Lou tick. "So Foolie...Uhm mind if I just
call you Lou?" Foolie hesitated for a second and then, blurted out, "Boo
yaka boo yaka boo! You can say or do whatever you do!" It won't faze me
either way...I 'll still be Foolie Lou!" that struck Markie as odd, but it did make
him chuckle too. "Well ok then it seems you're determined to act nutty all the
time, but deep down I think you're just hiding behind a wall, and to knock it down will take some time. It touched Dixie to
see that someone appeared to take an honest interest in Foolie, so she encouraged Markie. "No worries Foolie doesn't let many in, and you're correct
he's not truly out of his mind." With that Markie nodded in agreement tipped his cap an rolled off to check on his Leader, Red.
Charlie and Buck-L were busy over on
the grass practicing some attack and evasive moves, as Lil Buck and Snap-
Ohn were playing 'leap nut' with the Screws. " Stack yourselves another
nut higher" beckoned Snap-Ohn. "One
more nut at you service sire!" Giggled
the latest nut to join in on the game.
As Threadbare quietly passed by and
layed against a street sign. Once, not
too long ago, he felt powerful and sure
now he felt disposable, and he knew
somehow he wasn't the same.
Back in the Limo, Bobby Pin was steady poking pins, saying to Timmy quietly
"See? That guy Larry is what gives 'The Man' a bad name." " I'd say anything
if I was you, just to make him feel like
he's onto something big. Because 10
will get you 20, all he's really trying to
catch is his 5 minutes of fame." Timmy snapped Bobby Pin closed again, and
told him to just hush.He felt he needed
to remind him, that if anyone knew he
was getting advise from a Pin, they'd
think that he was 'touched'.
Threadbare, was still in a contemplative
state remembering back when he was
just a little screw, and how all the bigger screws would admire him for his tenacity and how he always seemed to know exactly what to do. "What happened to
that me I used to be?" he queried to himself. As a tear fell silent on the grass and he slinked closer to the ground and
fell fast asleep. Foolie Lou rolled over to ask Threadbare to help him screw down
a piece of plastic the kids found in a trashbin that they were hoping to make a slip and slide with, but he saw Threadbare
sleeping then noticed an odd color on his 'thread.' "OOhh oohh!! boo yaka boo yaka!!" Foolie seemed as if he was one nut shy of a pack. Dixie called out to Lou and said, "quiet down Lou, what you screaming at?" He motioned her over, and the rest of the crew came rushing over too.
Straw, Charlie, Red, and Markie and
Buck-L stood stunned as Markie
solemnly spoke out, " I've seen this condition before and we need to act quickly that's a must." it was apparent
To Markie that what was happening to Threadbare was he had come down with
a serious case of 'Rust.'
The Man (Eugene) and Shoe, again
united, and each felt 'empowered' by
one another. Shoe slicked his tongue
over and promised the man that when
they get his 'Brother' (D Shoe) things
for both of them would turn a corner
and "prominence would be theirs for the taking" and with that, 'The Man' stood a
bit more erect, (but truth be it known he was really a nervous wreck) and
noticeably shaking...
