Six Days sans Computer
sumthin’ happened on the way
to the computer
by the time I got there
it was gone
gone, I tell ya
down into the deep, dark void
of nevermore
at first I thought
eh . . . we’ll fix that
right .. . yeah . . . sure we would
six days later
still no computer in sight
I went through all sorts of withdrawals
from sheer panic
to absolute FRANTIC panic
as days followed days
did I become accustomed
to being without a computer
no . . .
no, I did not
I became terrifying panicked
wasn’t eating
neither was Zoe
myself, Christina, my landlady
and so called
AT&T techs tried to find the trouble
finally decided it as just time
to buy a new computer
more panic set in
wouldn’t be able to do that
until social security flew o’er the hovel
next month
dark, dark panic set in
wouldn’t you know it today
Christina picked up a cord
said it was broken
where you needed to plug it in
she went on to mull things over and
I sat there befuddled
reached down
picked up the broken cord
got up
plugged the broken corn into the modem
the other end
into my computer
thinking I was wasting my time
whadda ya know
computer went online
yeaaaaa!
after six days I was back in business.
