Doggie Bath
I try to give my dog a bath
At least once every month,
She's small and sweet but after weeks
She smells just like a skunk.
Her fur is white, on rainy nights
She walks through every puddle,
Her coat turns grey in several days
She knows there will be trouble.
I get a towel, she starts to scowl
Then runs straight for the door,
I grab the pup and pick her up
Just like each time before.
My canine daughter hates the water
And fears what's near the bath,
A water pool and dog shampoo
Are subjects of her wrath.
I scrub her with some rubber gloves
As she gives me a growl,
She fights and bites with all her might
Until she sees the towel.
She hates her bath but after that
She loves the fact she's clean,
She has her fun, she skips and runs
And prances like a queen.
I bet my shirt she's full of dirt
When she goes out to play,
But it won't count, At least for now,
She's safe for thirty days.
At least once every month,
She's small and sweet but after weeks
She smells just like a skunk.
Her fur is white, on rainy nights
She walks through every puddle,
Her coat turns grey in several days
She knows there will be trouble.

Then runs straight for the door,

Just like each time before.
