When the Step back...

Our world is so full of hostility there's no quiet
so many people angry and loud such riot
everyone seems to fight cheat and bicker
almost like you spilled their last drop of liquor.

You're not drunk enough to feel good just lonely
You reek of vomit and sweat you're just so damn homely
Now you would give anything to have a friend
But with your addiction so many people you offend.

Sitting there all by yourself so alone and still
realizing that without your chemicals you're so very ill
but no matter how hard you try you can't
you promise swearing you'll change it's your intent.

You manipulate those who are still around
your lies are obvious causing them no shock or to be astound
They hang around only because they believe
That nothing can defeat the love of families.

Addiction is a powerful and blinding darkness
many times making those who love you look heartless
your miss conduct has caused some to turn their back
while others extended help not wanting to retract

If they only give and become your enabler
how does that help your life be any stabler
The hardest thing they do is take a step away
knowing that doing so may cause you to ricochet.

Now as you're feeling deserted and forsaken
Remember for many this is the turning point a life shakin
they look back and remember those feelings of abandonment
And in those quiet moments they became truly abstinent.
