Deprived

Sunrise off in the distance  stretched

to the limits of apprehension and then

deprived

of the dreams of yesterday's highs  dropped

in the ache of the touch, is that enough

to hide

under blankets of regret, chilled to the bone

as the hen heats her home and rooster's nary roam

aimless eyes filter pages harboring lonely cries

and I'm wondering why, stuck here staring at the sky

Deprived I hide in the recesses of my mind

Sleepless wonders as time seems to rewind
