Life
Come sit beside me my friend, let me tell you about my life and live it over again. I’m a simple man you see, not much really bothers me. Oh sure, there are things I don’t like, but some things deserve a gripe. These are minor in the grand scheme of things, when you think about it, they don’t mean a damn thing.
There are things I truly miss, lost loved ones like my mom, dad, brother and sis. They are but a few and I’m sure you’ve lost some too. I could go on, with a list that is long. You see, some things are important that we’ve got, material possessions, fancy cars and money are not. Sure, we must survive, but it is not these that keep us alive.
My childhood was simple, no facebook or internet, just a life of treasured bests. Where have they all gone I wonder, hopscotch, marbles and tag. Just a flash in a life I once had. I’m not complaining so don’t get me wrong, I just wish they weren’t gone.
I’ve traveled the world and been to many places, seen sadness in many faces. Not all sad ones though, some were happy people that could emit a glow. These too, seem to be simple people, not wrapped up in life’s wrinkle.
I’ve sailed the seas with ravished storms and seen the red sun in the early morn. These are important things that I treasure, a life once had but still I measure.
It is of these little things that make my life, not the world in all its political strife. The protest, guns and violence of today, I just wish to hell they’d go away. People complain and really don’t see, what’s most important and just can’t let it be. They bitch and moan but blind to what is wrong.
No, my life hasn’t been exciting to most, to me though, it is worth my boast. Perhaps yours has been like mine to some degree, and if you’d like, please tell it to me.
