Fields Of Grey
Upon jagged rocks I dwell
the sea crashing to my rear
I look upon the land
rolling hills once vibrant and green
now lay barren
a mist fills the air and fills my eyes
remembering fields of daisies
where we used to run
where the doe and her fawn would rest
and the butterflies
would so merrily play
I gaze out now onto the fields that turned grey
and remember those happier times
when life was so simple
when there was only love in the air
when freedoms were cherished
and man and nature were friends
I sit here in amazement for what could have been
the joy, the excitement
all gone astray
should I stand up and fight for her
or let it all slip away
the sea crashing to my rear
I look upon the land
rolling hills once vibrant and green
now lay barren
a mist fills the air and fills my eyes
remembering fields of daisies
where we used to run
where the doe and her fawn would rest
and the butterflies
would so merrily play
I gaze out now onto the fields that turned grey
and remember those happier times
when life was so simple
when there was only love in the air
when freedoms were cherished
and man and nature were friends
I sit here in amazement for what could have been
the joy, the excitement
all gone astray
should I stand up and fight for her
or let it all slip away

If only...but if we did, would it be the same?
You never know what's around the corner Tim, journey on my friend, life can be full of surprises.

Love the imagery in this one... the fields of daisies, the butterflies, the love in the air...
It almost has a hippie feel to it and reminded me of my "Wonderland" :-)
It's so sad, but I'm glad that more people long for those days!
Awesome write, Tim

Man and nature, if only
we could all remember.
Makes me miss the woods.

Lovely imagery here, although heart fluttered a bit when staring back at land admittedly (fear of deep waters here)...
Coulda' in one's mind may lead to shoulda' or woulda' but it all leads to what is meant to be...keep that forward motion and good luck!

This is more than just nice. But some of my memories carry sadness when I now see tireless subdivisions in places that once held peanut fields and small, fish-filled ponds
