ODE TO PICTURE OF LILY MAE
(Inspired by Lily Mae's latest profile picture - a beholder's thoughts imagined. With her permission.)
Along the sands I saw her walk,
Barefoot, bare legged, seemed not to talk,
Her face shrouded in long blond hair,
Seeming in mind to be elsewhere.
The cotton wrap round about her,
In the breeze afront seemed to stir.
She seemed so at one with the sea
I could not call so she'd see me:
Disturbing her tranquility
Might break the scene's innocency
As drastic as the Fall of Man
Did shake the Garden of Eden.
Along the sands I saw her walk,
Barefoot, bare legged, seemed not to talk,
Her face shrouded in long blond hair,
Seeming in mind to be elsewhere.
The cotton wrap round about her,
In the breeze afront seemed to stir.
She seemed so at one with the sea
I could not call so she'd see me:
Disturbing her tranquility
Might break the scene's innocency
As drastic as the Fall of Man
Did shake the Garden of Eden.
