For The New Year

If adversity is the stuff that tests
character and assesses our souls
2016 will be a high water mark

In addition to decidedly different
individual selected as the
Oval Office occupant
many icons are no longer around

Including the one who gave us gems like "Colonized Mind",   "Sign O' The Times", and   "Starfish and Coffee"

Another detailed "Major Tom's" space adventures,  "Young Americans" and "Ashes To Ashes",
and said, "Let's Dance"

Yet another was part of a songwriting team that crafted "Hotel California", "Get Over It" and the majestic "Sad Cafe"

There were challenges caused by global climate change, which some still want to deny
horrific storms and droughts galore

Then there was man's inhumanity to man
weapons sold (and used) all over the globe

A presidential campaign from the party that is suppose to be about peace run by a lobbyist who never met a weapons system not liked

Stereotypes fashioned about people who dress different eat unique foods and decidedly think different

The US prides itself on diversity but are we really that accepting
now communities are banning classic literature

Remember a wall not only keeps people out --- they also work so well at keeping people in...

So heading into 2017 many people will be keeping lists: as for me my wish is that we all are able "to follow our bliss"!
