impotent
One by one he seduces all lost angels with his fiery cold verse
Sucking in their innocence with lustful words within his wanton curse
Lost virgins and dark angels cast down to their bloody knees go all
As he exhales perverse commands I witness how easily they fall
Apollyon has expelled his spell taking each soul under his wing
Becoming their carnal Master while not one suspects a thing
They all gladly submit their doggerel song as an unholy sacrifice
Porno poems become burnt offerings to pay his eternal price
Meanwhile I reflect in impotence unable to save them from Mephisto
But I believe he is nothing more than an epodic quack dubbed Doctor Porno
Lurking behind a disguise creeps the teacher's nemesis, a poetic predator
An empty heart with an ancient soul who needs a spiritual editor
For not one so-called erotic composition that he has slyly written
Has left their burning hearts anything but broken and frostbitten
Although I try to open up their eyes, none of my odes can reach them
As they fall on deaf eyes forced to deny my altruistic apothegm
Sucking in their innocence with lustful words within his wanton curse
Lost virgins and dark angels cast down to their bloody knees go all
As he exhales perverse commands I witness how easily they fall
Apollyon has expelled his spell taking each soul under his wing

Thank you G! I made several veiled references in this poem, carefully choosing certain words. I even had a completely different title for it until it was completed, then I knew what it had to be. This is a very deep poem for me. The words are just the surface to what boils deep underground...

No deaf eyes here JJ...this flowed in a way I could never make my words mimic...and so many thoughts as to poets who could be included in this, lol....myself included...this was excellent...

Thank you Taryn! The is something of a sequel, or sister poem to one I wrote the other day called "You've Changed". It's been eating away at me for quite some time...

Yet another jaw dropping creation jj! Maybe you should have titled it "poetic predator". But DUP is no different than any neighborhood, preditors lurk everywhere, even in church. Let your words be the cutting edge of the mighty pen you weild! H

Re: Re. impotent
Thank you Heather! Actually the title was originally going to be basically what I wrote in the comment to Flowergirl, "Words are just the surface of what boils deep underground".

You've written a very strong piece here, JJ. It says so much and yet there are still things hidden, much as you implied in that line you used in your reply to Flowergirl's comment. I've encountered a couple who meet the message in this one...I'd be curious to know more...Thank you for making us think, yet again. Your words are important.

Thank you Willow! There are some things I like leaving up to the reader. If readers wonder if I wrote this about them, perhaps it is and perhaps that question will make them do some soul searching. Hidden meanings are sometimes clues but again, I don't want to make public accusations, just get people who feel like it might be them to think about what they are doing to others and the hidden pain they might be inflicting. Also for those who may feel they have been manipulated into going places they otherwise would not have. For me, I think it is terribly abusive to turn ones art against them. It is not the sex acts I find offensive, as I love sex as much as any other dirty old man. But to use poetry as a tool to lure timid souls into dark and dirty places, I find that artistically reprehensible. I will hoist my pitchfork and torch to the witches burning at the stake to witness their barbaric ending without remorse. And the best part is, planting the seed secretly means they will gather the wood and set the fire to carry out their own sentence...

I hear what you're saying. I confess I don't write many in the way of erotic, but I always try to imbue them with love. Nothing wrong with straight up sex, just not as a weapon or entrapment. Thank you, JJ ☺

oooh i have an inkling... just a teeny little idea but this mayhap because i've seen the suave public façade change to slimy in private... tho likely there's more than one wolf leading lambs to slaughter.
i'll be quite honest & say that pop culture (women's literature in particular) has distorted the POV iro masculinity. i read far too many romance novels spanning the YA, NA and PNR categories & can tell you that alpha-hole, rage beasts who stalk, manipulate, abuse are romanticized as misunderstood protectors.
men who feed this fantasy only benefit from the illusions. it's a crying shame tbh.

Thank you Koshka!
A few of those abbreviations have me scratching my head, lol. I see POV come up frequently, even saw it on PBS yesterday, but I have no idea what it means. Guess I need to google it... lol
Very interesting comment!

Hahaha!!!!!!
You gotta go see this movie I watched the other night called "The Shape of Water" a brilliant cross between "Beauty and the Beast" & "Creature from the Black Lagoon".
And to think I thought it was just a movie, now I find out it's really a thing!!!!!!
Happy New Year!
