Trash Can
Once
you held
the deepest enchantment
my darlingest
head over heels
banishing darkness
with your smile
the queen of light
laughter
and loving
the skinny empress of forever
and guardian of my heart
But since we got married
you've doubled in size--
all you do
is sit by the TV
and eat
The last of your teeth
wobble when you speak
Your breasts
are saddlebags for your knees
the uncharted flesh of your thighs
are quicksand
and your ass
is a circus trick for whales
No wonder a fly
has made its home
on your upper lip
and maggots crawl yellow
from the corner of your eyes--
now you're a trash can
without a lid
you held
the deepest enchantment
my darlingest
head over heels
banishing darkness
with your smile
the queen of light
laughter
and loving
the skinny empress of forever
and guardian of my heart
But since we got married
you've doubled in size--
all you do
is sit by the TV
and eat
The last of your teeth
wobble when you speak
Your breasts
are saddlebags for your knees
the uncharted flesh of your thighs
are quicksand
and your ass
is a circus trick for whales
No wonder a fly
has made its home
on your upper lip
and maggots crawl yellow
from the corner of your eyes--
now you're a trash can
without a lid
