Wayne Kinney (Nov. 23, 1926 - Nov. 15, 2016)
This isn't written by me, and I will take it down if necessary, but I wanted to share something written by a childhood friend (an old youth group leader) who died this week. I never knew he wrote, not many people did, so I wanted to share it with DU so maybe his words could make some one smile.
I walked alone through fields of green
And through the city's throng;
And though I thought I walked alone
I could not have been more wrong.
Down through the years I roamed around
So aimlessly day by day;
I knew not where to go or to turn
And then I thought to pray.
Oh Lord, why did I turn my back
When you tried to set me straight?
Why did I try to go alone
And to trust luck and fate?
If I had turned to you just then,
I might have seen the light;
But no, I had to try alone
To start to win life's fight.
But now dear Lord, I've seen the way,
I've let you plant the seed.
All love and happiness comes from you,
You know our every need.
And now each day dawns fresh and new;
How beautifully the sun does shine,
And I know I never walked alone
For you were with me all the time.
