Phantom of Delirium
Flip a coin
What did you call?
It matters not, for when it falls
I'll snatch it up from 'neath your grasp
And I'll be long gone just as fast
With a satisfied smirk
I will vanish into air
You'll be left to sit and wonder
Was I ever really there?
A figment of your thoughts,
A haunting trail of knots
You struggle to untie
But no matter how you try
There is no way for you to know
The way out of this haze
As the fog descends
You are lost within my maze
You wander...
Left or right? Up or down?
Is the air above
Or is the sky beneath the ground?
Dry lips, you thirst and hunger
You're not getting any younger
Give up the search and lose yourself
Be nourished by my shadow well
Become dependent on the flow
Numbness, peace is all you know
See there, now was that so hard?
Resistance gone, relaxed you are
You exhale...
A slow, contented sigh
In stagnant trance you close your eyes.
I observe from my high perch
Atop my mirage tower I search
My gaze falls upon this land
I forged with my own crafty hands
I've no more need to let it stand
For I've achieve what I have planned
So now, I let it disappear
And leave you in despair and fear
Is freedom not what you have wanted?
Should have thought before you flaunted
Your merciless reality
Plagued by your mortality
What did you call?
It matters not, for when it falls
I'll snatch it up from 'neath your grasp
And I'll be long gone just as fast
With a satisfied smirk
I will vanish into air
You'll be left to sit and wonder
Was I ever really there?
