Crossroads

Between the two worlds
the crossroads exists
a hole in the fabric
neither here nor be there.

There stand the men
more than mere mortals
with offers at hand
for visitors of the junction.

Odin states his due
in blood or the future
tarry not the asked forfeit
given on his dire schedule.

Mercury is too crafty
for those who concede
to exchange their short lives
for his pact of deceit.

The music is given
by the Devil’s sweet muse
by midnight’s dark hour
this the hounds will retrieve.

In the end the crossroads will take
the receipt of the damned
given to rouge’s dark grave
outside homes of the living.
