deal with the devil
it was a lonely dusty road
no other way back from perdition
felt the sweat trickling down my back
the weight of the world on my shoulders
winds blew fire
scorching my face
there were signs along the way
turn back or else
somehow made it to the crossroads
some hard choices to be made
take the path out
where a dragon stood in my way
telling riddles that I had to solve
before I could move forward
there was a chess game at hand
I was both pawn and Queen
the devil was double dealing
played with my mind
made the game confusing
so surreal like tea with the Mad Hatter
the offer on the table a shot of dope
given the golden ticket for free
an easy out for now
though there's always a cost
when dealing with Lucifer
I chose to gamble with him
all I had left to bet with was my sanity
doubled down cards held tight to my chest
with a gleam in his eyes
he laid his cards on the table and called
I was bluffing
lost my mind
kept my heart hid though
walked on down the road
