On the Verge of the Shatter
Something is off, can’t you tell?
The state of things just isn’t quite right
You can sense it in the air
Like your focus is just out of sight
There is a common thread with most people
That go on trying to live through their day
If you were to stop them to ask what’s wrong
They wouldn’t know just quite what to say
It’s almost as if we are expecting
Something to come across the horizon
Something spectacular or incredibly horrific
We all stand in wait with our wits on
Is something changing our world
Or has it always been as crazy like this?
The world as it is seems to spiral on downward
And we are all ignorant in our bliss
I can’t help but sit back and wonder
When the time comes will it be a true shock
That whatever is happening amongst us all
Would send us scattering for cover under a rock
We will pay for our love of ourselves
Thinking we are too intelligent to see anything else
What will ultimately deliver us unto our fate
May bring a final and excruciating farewell
The state of things just isn’t quite right
You can sense it in the air
Like your focus is just out of sight
There is a common thread with most people
That go on trying to live through their day
If you were to stop them to ask what’s wrong
