GIN AND TONIC
I remember twenty-ten
My first taste of tonic gin
And when you were not pretend
Like you have recently been
I remember you back then
Pleasant taste of tonic gin
And with Winter ‘round the bend
In the forest we could swim
Your family is not my own
Even though it feels right
This fact that you have known
We are too much alike
I could tell you how I’m feeling
As soon as you would hear me
Or I could leave if you’d like
I’m sorry I’ve been smoking
You know that can’t define me
So would you please stay inside?
Jet black hair shrouding your porcelain skin
Forever, I’ll remember you like this
And your laughing under rain and clouds
I’ll always see you like this
How the time has flown
Makes no difference how we’ve grown
Poison of the heart
In your yard, the leaves wind blown
I don’t expect forgiveness
Nor will you be forgiven
After all, you know who I am
I somewhat wish I knew why
That taste of tonic gin
Is sweeter than you were
Through the windows of the evening train
Nothing but my memories remain
And your speaking in your foreign tongue
Confusing me, I’d laugh along
And the way you felt on top of me
When there was nowhere else to be
And your scent that I still smell sometimes
Forever, I will remember
And the way your lips had moistened mine
I’ll always prefer gin to wine
