Great title and the first three lines are powerful. In my humble opinion I don't think you need the last two lines unless , perhaps, you show a word picture of how the fear manifests itself. Nice job !

I wanted the last part to be included, because I didn't want it seem like I was romanticising the situation. It's a legitimately worrying realisation.
