Move on.
The street burned with the red and gold of autumn,
As the sky threatened with dirty dark clouds.
A youth crouched in the wind less doorway,
Sucking slowly on a saliva soaked joint,
Behind a beer can battlement.
A street light shone on his buttercup yellow skin,
Reflecting his drink devastated liver.
Head flicking from side to side,
Watching carefully all passers with suspicious eyes
Like a possessive griffin guarding his pitiful treasure.
The flashing blue light pulled alongside,
Joint flipped and pocketed.
Cosy life pigs with a move along order,
Perpetually pushing and pissing him off.
Not this time.
Threats hidden behind promises,
Snide remarks carrying open threats.
Raising up on unsecured legs,
Promised the doorway he’ll be back.
The alley across the road, they won’t follow,
Spit in his face and run.
Surfing on damp leaves out in to the road
Bright lights held and hit him.
Joint free flying, to land,
In perpetual darkness.
As the sky threatened with dirty dark clouds.
A youth crouched in the wind less doorway,
Sucking slowly on a saliva soaked joint,
Behind a beer can battlement.
A street light shone on his buttercup yellow skin,
Reflecting his drink devastated liver.
