THE MOSS UPON THE BARK II: CREDENCE
Emergence, in clamorous ensemble
Shadowed earth bolsters the horizon
Portrait of a life laid bare for all to see
Credence of a fact, in hushed breath
Stained the epitaph
It was me, peering past the causeway
What was, is no longer free
Somewhere in the beckoning night
There is a spite that lingers
I seek it
The sun sets and torches ablaze
A muddled tide in discord, clipping their wings
Eating of the self, paranoia
As travesty heats the blaze
Forcing of a thought once kept locked tight
A task seems endless, and the mind is numb
Your soul is burning away in this night
Bled by the trial all fears pursue, and dying
Stare away from the corner, kept at bay
Clarity smeared by the oncoming dark
Haunted by the words of yesterday
By the moss upon the bark
Wounded me
A scar, caprice
Facing me
My enmity
Truth in eyes now veiled in disgust
And the demon wells past the threshold
Crushed between and gasping for air
Watered down by, and delving deeper
Two roads, one foot planted on both
Condemned in a rippled reflection
I am staring at you through ignorance
Manifested in the guise of sanctity
A cold draft, and a dust disturbed
Following into the woods
A false hope, a sclera wide
A sullen melody
They’re calling me back, I must return
There’s a distant howling, I know
I am unraveling
