Being Free

Out of the ashes of the fire,
My hopes rise anew.
From the nights of despair,
I found comfort in you.

But I've taken my leave
Of the dreams we once shared.
My journey begins here,
On this path I've prepared.

I've knocked down all the walls,
That posed a hindrance to me.
Nothing's holding me back now
For I've set myself free.

I can fly up high unto the sky,
For I remember how now,
I don't cry, just sigh, for I know why
Dreams were dismembered for now

But I opened that door I knew before,
And memory flooded in to my soul,
I was hopin' for more of what's in store,
Can you see what it means to take control?

Soaring on the updraft, I realize my power,
Taking me to a space and time out of phase,
Raised my cup, Laughed, for its Happy Hour!
Breaking free: no time to waste; I'm free of delays

I'm blessed by the Creator to be singing my song,
Happiness is flourishing, in my spirit that's divine.
I make a home for my own, in a place I belong,
And wait for the coming reward that is mine.

And then who will I be, but a creature unto thee?
Reminiscent of the One, but alien to my self?
I'll scar my own hands to win the entrance fee,
To be recounted in lore, in my book, upon the shelf.

So, shake my hand, smile, and do a little jig.
My words uncover the truth, but only for awhile.
I grow abundant, and won't break like a twig.
In me is the key, I represent the new style.

That which was separate has become one,
The earth has been dug, the seed has been sown,
Given the water of life, and the light of the sun,
This love that we share took root and has grown

We live within life and life lives within us,
Truth never dies, for it is immortal,
With this knowledge, there's not much to discuss,
Love beckons our hearts to its open portal

We're walking on the razor's edge,
Simplicity is the key
Don't fall. Fly free from this ledge.
Let's breathe, and be free.
