The Drunkard
He says that life had been cruel to him
So he took to the bottle on a whim
As spending hours in seedy bars fills his days
He feels invincible , he says
Sit with him and try to converse
He starts by crooning songs verse by verse
Then talk turns to confrontations he says he won
Followed by listing of his achievements one by one
Things turn from bad to worse
For he turns to people around and starts to curse
As you wonder what lies ahead
He starts to repeat what he already said
Soon time arrives for the last order of the day
He says two more pegs and I'll be on my way
Later he turns to you and says, "Thank you. I love you." And starts to weep
Puts his head on the table and goes to sleep
