Silence Speaks

Naturally, your canvas reveals a strong message
One in which I find great truth
To the heart of an artist, silence is excruciating
Deafeningly silent reasons rattle around
Inside, desparately seeking a way to get loose

Sometimes, their manifestations will absolutely terrify

.....like a spector, they will appear loudly, hovering
Sometimes, comforting; others, cutting like a stiletto
No way can you prepare for what will come out at you.

The not-knowing is paralyzing; sometimes even more painful than words, no matter how true.

So as the ink dries upon your gentle canvas.........
My fingers gently stroke the words written across your back
Affirmation of my understanding so completely
With an assurance that your silent fears clearly lack

Can I simply embrace you
Honestly, skin to skin
Can you and I force the silence out
And allow each discernible voice come in

Never again to be frightened
Of things that we cannot hear
My fingertips trace the words across your shoulder
Feelings that speak volumes; Very loud and very clear.
