Via Dolorosa
I didn't make
Myself love you
I don't like to cry
You are too far away
To see my tears
When the sky
Stretches it's fingers
I know it touches you
We blow with the wind
And fall as rain
A soldier of night
And a backseat beauty
Were not meant to dance
So we chase the sun
And catch hidden rainbows
Your voice is silent
I cannot hear you speak
So I keep you within
The plain black lines
Of a broken hearted love poem

the way of sorrow that we follow
& how much more sorrowful would it be
if we were not on it together;
I & you...
& how much more sorrowful would it be
if we were not on it together;
I & you...

Such bittersweet loveliness here. Love doesn't know distance, but oh how it aches with such separation. Your words touched me.

Such a beautiful and bittersweet poem...
I can't think of a better title for a poem about heartache then 'Via Dolorosa"

Re. Via Dolorosa
By virtue of painful…
Anyone who believes there is no beauty in sadness never read Via Dolorosa.
Free Verse is a formidable instrument in expressing poetic voice, as you've so palpably exhibited within the scope of this omnipotently rendered composition.
"A soldier of night
And a backseat beauty
Were not meant to dance
So we chase the sun
And catch hidden rainbows"
Sheer quality exudes from your pen's nib, Kasai … even so, while perusing your plethora of offerings, a notion whispered, "I'd love to cowrite with this poetess", only to be dispelled by virtue of every incomparable collaboration with the astute poet, John.
Syntax, line-breaks, ambiance, moment, timbre of originality, imagery, metaphor (and, so much more, in all your pieces) swept my senses, with ne'er a single piece lacking excellence.
Unto a master of Her craft, I warmly, reverently ~ deeply bow with humble gratitude! ⁓ Richard 🍃

First things first Richard...
I believe an enormous thank you is in order for the most flattering, in depth, and thoughtful comment I have ever had the pleasure of receiving in my little comments section. It means a lot coming from a writer of your caliber.
Sadness is quite a complex emotion; it's hard to imagine such a vulnerable beauty can thrive there and the challenge of expressing it in just that way is what keeps me coming back I suppose. That and the feedback from other writers; their comments, thoughts, critiques.
I think every poem is a learning experience and John was an amazing teacher, as are all of the other poets here. They've helped me to find my voice again.
Thanks again for taking the time for such a thoughtful comment.
