Broken

When I think about us
I wish I could pretend that everything was perfect
I wish that I could say that maturity growing in two different ways is why we are separate
But we both know that’s not true
Between me and you
We both know what happened
Why?
Is still being debated
I say you, you say me, I say we, you say me
Truth is, we’re both guilty
Our past made an appearance in our presence that ruined our future
You were trying to forget him
I was forgetting her
Our foundation was made of past regrets and false hope
We mended our wounds with band aids and no soap
We expected them to heal on their own
We have each other no time to grow
So what did we do?
We tore each other apart
Our promises to each other were lies from the start
You broke me down emotionally
I broke you down spiritually and physically
But violence played no part
However abuse read clear on our hearts
We toyed with each other to see how far we would go
We tested our limits with no sign of control
We were dumb and did stupid things
We weren’t concerned and showed little care for what it would bring
This game was played entirely to long
I realized what I was but what had you become?
I tried to bring us back but you were too far estranged
We were driving full speed, in opposite directions, in the same lane
Destruction was the game Loss is the only thing that remained….
