RECRUITMENT SONGS
Some time ago you stepped up into me and I fell backward
into you
We didn't know which way the train was moving or how much time we had until
it jerked still and we toppled down
Entangled, in a heap,
Time and again you called me up like you were a part of me
like this cooled down/heated up version of life to which I was becoming known
was yours and your alone
And I was part of you
Even though there was always something in it that smelled of something
an odor neither neutral nor bad....
mystery preserved, you preserved me,
back at the house, even though you had me
you had all of me
And I fell asleep singing recruitment songs I learned in dreams
whilst you stroked my hair and scrolled through your phone casually
into you
We didn't know which way the train was moving or how much time we had until
it jerked still and we toppled down
Entangled, in a heap,
Time and again you called me up like you were a part of me
like this cooled down/heated up version of life to which I was becoming known
was yours and your alone
And I was part of you
Even though there was always something in it that smelled of something
an odor neither neutral nor bad....
mystery preserved, you preserved me,
back at the house, even though you had me
you had all of me
And I fell asleep singing recruitment songs I learned in dreams
whilst you stroked my hair and scrolled through your phone casually
