Life Doesn't Wait...by gentlegirl
The wind gently blowing her hair
as the swing goes higher and higher
Toes touch the dirt beneath
burning as if on fire
Breathing in the cool Fall air
so crisp as ice on the pond
Her thoughts swirling in her mind
taking her far beyond
Only Ten years old now she is
grasping for adventure and fun
Yet holding back not reaching
her young life's only begun
At Thirteen everyting changes
as the night after a storm
Nothings the same as before
as if once again she is born
At Fourteen she looks in her mirror
her room her safe place to be
Life has become so confusing
No beauty in her does she see
At Sixteen her smile returns
her beautiful face all aglow
There's someone at the door
she how has her first beau
At Eighteen the challenges change
Graduation finally reaching
Next comes the college years
In four she should be teaching
On and on life goes
not stopping or waiting for one
Career, husband and kids
Blink and life's all done.
as the swing goes higher and higher
