What I Know Will Hurt Me
She was there only once, but in vivid dream
I remember her still in that moment serene
Words were not spoken for there was no need
True love was there without any decree
The moment was real for the time it was there
I noticed the street, but I did not care
All I could think was that she was the one
All of my sorrows were quickly undone
We kissed on the street, right under the light
I kept my eyes open to savor her sight
Her eyes were like jade as they met with my own
They told me to reap all the love I had sown
For as our eyes met, I knew it would end
She already knew this but tried to pretend
We pretended together that this was real life
That this was the end of our mutual strife
I wish I could say I remembered her face
What I remember I could not replace
I knew it was true, I know she is real
If only I knew her, our fate could be sealed
For if life is fair, which I think it is
Should I not get a chance at happiness?
Why am I free of this lover’s embrace?
Why is the joy I drink bitter in taste?
I want to be chained by this lover’s embrace
My memory locked on her beautiful face
(I wish there was no true love at first sight
I wish that I never had seen her that night
Her caring eyes have escaped from my sight
I hold on to hope that I’ll see her tonight)
I remember her still in that moment serene
Words were not spoken for there was no need
True love was there without any decree
The moment was real for the time it was there
I noticed the street, but I did not care
All I could think was that she was the one
