Happy Days
Happiest of days now
with long nights
and easy mornings
I bask forgetfully now
in the afterglow
of a rolling blackout
in limn porch lights
I cast laughter
like a soaring shadow
and forget to excuse myself
when I disappear completely
with a wincing Irish goodbye
I wake up next to nothing now
quite often actually
and feel just fine about things
Like a retired king
I bask righteously
and I am unusually happy
about all of these long days
and short nights
and realizations through comedy
that I might never remember
I wake up next to nothing now
quite often practically
and feel just fine about things
It makes me happy
with long nights
and easy mornings
I bask forgetfully now
in the afterglow
of a rolling blackout
in limn porch lights
I cast laughter
like a soaring shadow
and forget to excuse myself
when I disappear completely
with a wincing Irish goodbye
I wake up next to nothing now
quite often actually
and feel just fine about things
Like a retired king
I bask righteously
and I am unusually happy
about all of these long days
and short nights
and realizations through comedy
that I might never remember
I wake up next to nothing now
quite often practically
and feel just fine about things
It makes me happy
