Was I the Game?
by gentlegirl
How many players were in this game
You don't know the number, "just some"
I was just one of many
And never the number One
The game began years ago
you soon made the rules
while i maintained my dignity
and played like many a fool
Maybe you all played each other
while i was the innocent guest
im sure I made the game interesting
and soon became your quest
Secretly you juggled more than one
until your secret was known
discovered by this one so gentle
the one you called your own
This time in my life I needed to trust
The one of whom I was fond
Thinking he oh so gentle man
not fearing of being conned
Soon learning of love I felt
this gamer knew what to do
His lies delivered so brilliantly
now broke her heart into
She crumbled to the floor
as death would be a delight
He swore his love was hers
But he lost his game that night
Throughout the years to follow
His gaming reared its head
He had to have another
Still wanting her instead
So dishonest a man was he
swearing with all his might
Of his love and honesty to her
yet playing the game just right
The little voice inside her
so silent yet so true
Told her of his Games played
and rules this gamer knew
He played her many times
ignoring her need and desire
returning when his option was
to feel the warmth of her fire
oh she left many times
To return in days of few
The love she had was his
The only game she knew
He's playing her even now
She knows a rule or two
But never to play his game
For her honesty is true
He wants her to trust him
Her will he cannot bend
She knows he'll never come for her
He plays the game to the end.
They both are losers of this game
He seemed to love so well
While she only loved him
He loved where the players dwell.
One day she will leave him
never to darken his door
Tears he'll shed she knows
Then return to the gaming floor.
