The Puppet Master

He started out the clown,
Lulling in circus-goers;
Feeding red elephants buzzwords like peanuts.
They eat, they eat, they eat;
Addicted to the energy, they come back for more.
The clown is smart as he expands to puppeteer.
The circus fans are tantalized, hypnotized,
"Elepheep" if you will.
Stand up and lie, he does no wrong;
Change policy, no matter.
He passes out more peanuts.
The more they eat, their bodies stiffen;
Flesh drying out like wood.
More puppets than people, the strings easily attach.
The set is staged, the stage is set;
The puppets are in place.
To push and pull, jump and cheer, manipulate for his case.
Hat's off to him, Ringmaster.
Despite my different posture,
My impulse to leer and jeer,
I must give him credit, for
He's a master puppeteer.
